Do I need to be an experienced investor to use this platform?

No, you don’t need to be an experienced investor to invest. The platform is designed to be user-friendly and includes tools, research, educational materials and market data to help you make informed decisions.

What types of investments are available?

You can invest in a wide variety of securities including:

How do I access my investing account?

You will access the investing portal inside COPFCU digital banking (online banking or mobile app). Simply login to digital banking to access the investing portal, view balances, trade securities or crypto, and track your investments.

Is there a minimum to open an account?

Self-Directed Investing:  With self-directed investing, you can get started with no minimum investment required; however some securities may have their own purchase requirements.

Guided Investing: With guided investing, you can start a portfolio with as little as $20.

Can I buy a fractional share of stock?

Yes, you can buy fractional shares as low as $1.00.

Are my investments taxable?

COPFCU does not provide tax advice. For specific questions, you should consult a tax professional.

You can find your consolidated transaction history in the documents section of the investment portal which can be used as a record of gains and losses received from trades.

Can anyone invest?

Account holders over the age of 18 and in good standing with COPFCU can buy, sell, or hold assets. Commercial accounts and trust accounts are not supported. Account holders residing in TX, ID, or NY are unable to trade.

Can I get help if I have questions?

Yes, support is available if you need help navigating the portal or have technical questions. If you need support related to your investment account, we also offer access to licensed financial professionals.

Is COPFCU a registered broker-dealer?

No, COPFCU is not a broker-dealer, does not offer the investments, and the investments are not insured by NCUA. All securities and brokerage services are offered by InvestiFi Securitites, member FINRA/SIPC.

Are stocks and ETFs insured?

No. Stocks and ETFs are not federally insured by the NCUA or FDIC. They are also not deposits or obligations of COPFCU, are not guaranteed by the credit union, and may lose value.

What is the relationship between COPFCU and InvestiFi?

COPFCU has partnered with InvestiFi to integrate its digital investing platform into digital banking (online banking and mobile apps). This allows you to access InvestiFi’s learning and investing tools directly from within your banking interface and to invest directly from your checking account without having to transfer money to a third-party app.
