On June 30, 2025 the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) closed and placed into liquidation Butler Heritage Federal Credit Union. The NCUA has entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with Cincinnati Ohio Police Federal Credit Union (COPFCU).


What Does This Mean For Your Accounts?


First and foremost, your accounts remain safe, accessible and continue to be insured to $250,000 by NCUA’s share insurance fund per the limits provided by the Federal Credit Union Act.

You are now a valued member of COPFCU, with the same rights and privileges afforded to every one of our members. COPFCU is a local, federally chartered and insured credit union with more than 11,000 members, in business since 1935 and currently celebrating our 90th Anniversary.

The branch at 660 N. University Blvd. remains open to serve you. Continue to call 513-423-2921 or visit the branch for all your needs. The branch hours remain Monday – Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Your accounts will transition to COPFCU systems effective August 1. Throughout the month of July, continue to use your current online banking system to manage your accounts. On August 1, your accounts and loans will transition to our systems at the same — or better — rates and terms. Additional information will be sent to you shortly with details of your new COPFCU account number(s) and how to access online, mobile banking and bank-by-phone systems.


Important Actions You Should Take


  • Review your final BHFCU statement when it arrives. The statement will arrive soon (just as usual). We encourage you to review this final statement and report any differences or errors to us using the contact information noted in the “Support from NCUA” section below.
  • Confirm your contact information. To ensure a smooth transition, please verify that your mailing address, mobile phone number and email address are correct. These details are essential for sending important updates and one-time passcodes required to access COPFCU’s online and mobile banking systems. Call or visit the branch to update your information.
  • Watch your mailbox and email inbox for important details. In the coming days, you will receive your new COPFCU account number(s) and membership agreements/disclosures along with other important information you will need to access our online banking, mobile banking and bank-by-phone systems.

Support from NCUA


You may make claims for share insurance to NCUA as Liquidating Agent. You have eighteen (18) months from the date of the appointment of the Liquidating Agent in which to make claims to the Liquidating Agent for share insurance. This period ends December 31, 2026. Failure to make claims before that date will act as a bar to such claims.

Timeline & What to Expect

July 2025: Current Systems Remain Online, but Prepare for the Transition

Current Systems Remain Online: Throughout July all current systems are still available for your use. Continue to use your Checking Accounts, Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Online Banking, etc., as you normally would. The systems will deactivate at end of day on July 31.

Important Communications You Will Receive: Be on the lookout for additional communications from us that detail your new COPFCU account number(s), membership agreements and disclosures, and instructions for accessing our systems on August 1.

New Debit Cards Will Arrive: If you currently have a debit card, you will receive a new COPFCU debit card prior to August 1. Please note that the cards will not work until the systems transition on August 1.

August 1, 2025: Transition to COPFCU Systems

All accounts and loans will transition to COPFCU systems. You will need your COPFCU account number to access Online Banking, Mobile Banking and our Bank-by-Phone system.

Will my Member Number / Account Number change?

Yes, you will receive a new account number from COPFCU. It will look similar to your current account number with a prefix added.

Will I get a new COPFCU debit card?

Are my checks still good?

Will the routing number change?

Yes, the routing number will change. The Butler Heritage routing number continue to work through September 30, 2025. Please begin to update any ACH Direct Deposits, Pull Payments (payments pulled from your account using your account number and routing number such such as Duke Energy, Water Bills, etc.) prior to October 1, 2025.
