Each member is part owner in the Credit Union by just depositing $5.00 into a savings account. Our deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a government agency. All the services you would expect at a bank are available at the Credit Union. What is a credit union?

A Credit Union is a very special entity whose strength lies in its unique structure and philosophy. A credit union is owned and operated by its members who have accounts. An election is held each year in which members elect a board of directors. The board of directors is strictly a volunteer who is not paid for their time. The board's responsibilities include setting policies and making financial decisions on behalf of the credit union. This democratic structure gives each member a vote, regardless of the size of his or her account.

Credit Unions are a non-profit co-operative. Due to this unique structure credit unions can offer better services at a lower cost. Members often earn higher returns on their savings while paying lower rates on loans. Any operational surpluses are used to improve existing services or introduce new innovative services. Who is Eligible to Join COPFCU?

Currently Membership in COPFCU is opened to the following Individuals:

All Police, Firefighters, Educators, and Government Employees working in the following states and counties:

  • Ohio
    • Clermont, Butler, Hamilton, Warren
  • Kentucky
    • Boone, Campbell, Grant, Kenton
  • Indiana
    • Dearborn

Family Members: Once you join COPFCU, your entire family is automatically eligible for membership! This includes your spouse, children, parents, grandchildren, siblings, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces. Everyone can take advantage of our great service and products.

  2. Complete the application and mail or bring it in person to:

  3. You must bring the following items to open a new membership:
    • Your driver’s license or other non-expired government-issued photo ID (or photocopy if mailing in forms)
    • Your social security card (or photocopy if mailing in forms)
    • A check for at least $5, the minimum needed to open your Share Savings Account.
